American Battleship

Battleship is a 2012 American military science fiction action film based on the board game of the same name. The film is directed by Peter Berg from a screenplay by brothers John and Eric Hopper and stars Alexander Skarsgard, Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker, Rihanna, Tadanobu Asano, Hamish Linklater and Liam Neeson. Filming took place in Hawaii and on the USS Missouri. In the film, the crews of a small group of warships are forced to fight against a naval fleet of extraterrestrial origin in order to thwart their destructive goals
The battleship premiered in Tokyo on April 3, 2012 and was released by Universal Pictures in the United States on May 18, 2012. The film was a box office bomb, grossing 303 million dollars worldwide for a production budget of 209-220 million dollars, universal and Hasbro each lost 150 million dollars. It was nominated for six awards at the 33rd Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture, winning one for Worst Supporting Actress for Rihanna

"This could be like Columbus and the Indians," worries a nerdy radio astronomer. "Except that we are Indians."From a powerful transfer facility in Hawaii, he supervised the transmission of a signal to the Earth-like planet G in another galaxy, and in no time at all, aliens come to call. Given that they arrive in a matter of weeks, they should have detected faster-than-light speeds, so it's a bit strange that when they arrive they are completely analog. Their vast warships are scattered in the Pacific Ocean (except for the parts that destroy Hong Kong in one of those scenes where skyscrapers, so beloved in disaster films, fall down). But these exotic crafts are armed only at a level that makes their battle with American warships more or less confrontational

Is the fleet already comfortable near the Splashdown point? She is participating in war games with allies such as Japan, which provides an excuse for a Japanese officer to temporarily take command of one of our ships and thereby strengthen the overall "battleship" in Asia. It is also useful for the aliens to create a force field that forms an impenetrable barrier around their craft, which seals three American ships, closes all the others and explains why our planes simply do not bomb the cry

Of course, in the age-old tradition of the B movie, Our response to the strange visit is immediately military. There is not a single word of discussion about foreigners maybe just a social call. We call them, they come and we open fire. This is despite the fact that they are remarkably human; when we finally remove the helmet from the spacesuit of one of the aliens, it turns out that he looks alarmingly like James Carville

In the setting, we meet an unchanged beachman named Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitsch), whose brother Stone (Alexander Skarsgard) is a naval officer. At a bar, Alex beats up Samantha Shane (Brooklyn Decker), who does not know that she is the daughter of the admiral of the fleet (Liam Neeson). Breaking into a small shop to get her burrito, Alex and his brother are caught delivering an ultimatum: join the Navy or otherwise

Meanwhile, the obsessed Cal (Hamish Linklater) oversees the signal transmission to planet G, and in no more time than it takes Alex to get into uniform and aboard an American destroyer, five alien spacecraft enter our solar system in tight formation. Then one spacecraft flies out of the depths of the ocean, the size of a skyscraper and full of ominous protrusions. You must say that it takes a real nerve for a communications officer (Rihanna) and two sailors to rush to him in a rubber dinghy armed only with a machine gun

In a parallel storyline, we learn that Samantha is a physiotherapist working with Army vet Mick Canalis (real-life Iraq hero Gregory D. Judson). She takes him for a walk down the mountainside where NASA's big radio dishes are located, they meet a nerd, and a lot depends on preventing aliens from telephoning home. In the operations room of the Pentagon, officials are worried. There is the obligatory montage of telegraphic news reports about the alien invasion, and American destroyers exchange fire with aliens. Two ships were destroyed, including the one commanded by stone, and after the death of several officers on Alex's ship, he turned out to be the next in command and became the captain of the surviving American destroyer. So this is convenient. The characters we met at the beginning all became the main players

"Battleship" is based on the Hasbro board game of the same name, which I have not played. Feeling this when the radar does not work, Rihanna comes up with a way to deduce the underwater movements of the spacecraft by tracking wave patterns on a grid using old weather buoys. The film eventually comes down to a lot of scenes in which " things blow up nicely."One alien weapon is especially scary: a large metal ball with spikes that rolls through objects and flattens them. Less sophisticated versions of this were used in the Middle Ages, perhaps made of burning tar balls

The film is in the tradition of the" Transformers " films, which are also based on Hasbro toys, and she feels that Hasbro showed Director Peter Berg some Michael Bay films and told him to go and do the same. It is to his credit that" battleship "is a more entertaining film than the" Transformers " titles, because it has more fully embodied characters, a better plot and a lot of naval combat strategy. The work of Gregory D. Judson, as the disabled veterinarian, is especially effective; he has a fierce presence on the screen. Rihanna is as convincing as personality allows, and Taylor Kitsch makes a strong if predictable hero

But the most beautiful touch is that the "battleship" has an honest third act with God, instead of just being content with fireballs and explosions without stopping, as Bai likes to do. I don't want to spoil it for you. Suppose the greatest generation still has the right things and leave it at that
Jeremy Renner was originally considered for the role of Hopper. In April 2010, it was reported that Taylor Kitsch had been cast as Alex Hopper, Alexander skarsig-ocherd played his brother Stone Hopper, Brooklyn Decker plays Sam, and Hopper's fiancee, William Neeson as Admiral Shane, Sam's father and Hopper's top officer.Barbados R & B singer Rihanna makes her acting debut in the film, as a sailor. In an interview with GQ, Berg explained how he came up with the idea to cast. He realized that she could work after appearing on Saturday Night Live. She accepted the role because she wanted to "do something badass" and also because it was not a role that was too big to play.Tadanobu Asano also plays a role in the film as the commander of a Japanese Kong Yut-class destroyer. Double amputee Colonel of the US Army Gregory Judson, who has never acted before, plays the role of Lieutenant Mick Canales. He was chosen after Berg saw a photo of him in National Geographic

The film marks the reunion between former co-stars Keech and Jesse Plemons, who previously worked together on the television series Berg Friday Night Lights. Berg said he likes working with friends and explained that he knows how comfortable kitsch is with Plemons, "I know he's really good for Taylor and he makes Taylor better. Therefore, I wrote this whole part for Jesse. He added: I never thought of it as a Friday Night Lights reunion. I thought of it as protection, bringing a trusted family member

US Navy sailors were used as extras in various parts of this film. Sailors of various orders in the Naval District of Hawaii helped to cope with the lines to take the Missouri in and out of the port for one day of shooting in mid-2010. A few months later, the production team launched a casting call for sailors stationed at various naval commands at Naval Station Mayport, Florida to serve as extras. Sailors were also taken from various ships stationed at Naval Station Mayport, Jacksonville, Florida, namely USS Ho-city, USS Carney and USS Vicksburg were some of the ships that provided sailors
