Synopsis

More than three decades after his time at Topgun, captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell is working as a test pilot for the US Navy. As Admiral Chester" hammer " Cain is about to close the supersonic scramjet program "Dark Star" and redirect funds to drone programs, Maverick leads the prototype to its rapid target, and then pushes further to supersonic speed, destroying it. Cain wants to fire Maverick for his recklessness, but instead sends him to the northern island of NAS as a TOPGUN instructor on the orders of Maverick's friend and former rival, Admiral Tom "Iceman" Kazansky, commander of the US Pacific Fleet

Maverick ordered the training of elite F / A-18E / F Super Hornet pilots assembled by Vice Admiral Bo "cyclone" Simpson and Admiral Solomon" Warlock " Bates for an urgent task: to bomb an unauthorized uranium enrichment plant in a foreign country and eliminate it in a short time. The plant is located in a deep depression at the end of a ravine and is defended by surface-to-air missiles and fifth-generation Su-57 fighters operating from a nearby air base. Maverick is planning an attack with a couple of Super wasps, which will fly through the ravine and destroy the plant. The pilots initially rejected the maverick, in particular Lieutenant Jake "The Executioner" Seresin and lieutenant Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, the son of the late maverick's best friend and Rio Nick "Gus" Bradshaw

While the pilots are training for the mission, friction develops between the executioner and rooster, who resents the executioner's arrogant attitude towards the wingmen, while the executioner criticizes Rooster's warning. While the pilots are watching the maverick, they reassess him and unite around him. Maverick also meets with his ex-girlfriend Penny Benjamin, to whom he reveals that rooster's now-dead mother made him promise to ban her son from flying, blocking Rooster's application to the Naval Academy, which restored his career. Maverick later meets The Snowman, who has throat cancer and communicates mainly by typing on a computer. Reassuring Maverick about the education of the team, he died days later, and Maverick with the pilots attended his funeral where the formation of a missing man was noted. With the dead snowman, Hurricane removes Maverick as a mission trainer and sets new standards less dangerous on the approach but more dangerous on the exit. However, Maverick makes an unauthorized flight of the simulated route with the original parameters, proving that it can be done. Hurricane is convinced and reluctantly appoints Maverick as a strike leader

Maverick chooses the mission team and pairs himself with Phoenix and Wusu bob, while Rooster pairs with recovery and Wusu fanboy. The executioner and the remaining pilots are put on standby. The team sets off from the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt while the guided missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf fires Tomahawk cruise missiles to destroy the air base near the factory. The team arrives at the factory and destroys it, but is attacked by surface-to-air missiles and a pair of criminals patrolling Su-57s. When Rooster runs out of countermeasures, Maverick sacrifices his plane to protect him and gets out. Believing that Maverick will be killed during the fighting, the remaining aircraft returns to the carrier. Against orders, Rooster turned back and rescued the maverick from a Mi-24 gunship helicopter, but was shot down by another surface-to-air missile and ejected nearby. The two meet and head towards the destroyed airbase, where they steal an F - 14 Tomcat and return to the carrier. Maverick and Rooster shoot down two Su-57 interceptors, but a third arrives with running out of ammunition and countermeasures. The executioner arrives from the standby mode to shoot down the Su-57, and the planes return to cheer on the carrier, where maverick and Rooster reconcile

Some time after the mission, maverick and Rooster work together on a P-51 Mustang in a hangar near the test facility where Maverick was previously stationed. Penny arrives with her daughter Amelia, and Maverick takes her for a ride in the P-51. Rooster walks over to a photo board and acknowledges the success of their mission, along with a photo of his late father and the younger Maverick

Box office: 'Top Gun Maverick' breaks Memorial Day weekend records with 160 million dollars
Tom Cruise's star-studded thriller "Top Gun: Maverick" capped the Memorial Day weekend with a box office debut in the record books. The sequel, which sees Cruise return to the cockpit after 36 years, collected 160.5 million dollars in the first four days of its release

These ticket sales were enough to surpass the Disney film "Pirates of the Caribbean: at the end of the world", which was launched with 153 million dollars during the long weekend in 2007, as the largest Memorial Day debut in history

Paramount and Skydance originally expected" Top Gun: Maverick " to generate 124 million dollars between Friday and Sunday and end the long weekend with 151 million dollars. But the film had a bigger turnout than expected on Sunday and Monday, pushing the three-day film to 126 million dollars and the four-day collection to 160 million dollars. (Monday's estimate of the four-day toll was at 156 million dollars.) The film is playing 4,732 cinemas in North America, the widest release ever
At the international box office, the sequel to the 1986 film "Top Gun" moved in the amount of 139 million dollars, increasing its global gross, which exceeded 300 million dollars

In a promising sign for the summer film Season, "Top Gun: Maverick" — without the help of costumed heroes or fantasy spells — landed one of the best domestic openings of the pandemic after "Spider-Man: no way home" (260 million dollars), "Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness" (187 million dollars) and "Batman" (134 million dollars). Hollywood hopes that a bunch of films, such as" Jurassic World Dominion "(June 9)," Elvis "(June 24) and Jordan Peele's" both " (July 22), will continue to attract audiences beyond the famous Marvel fare

"Maverick" also earned the biggest debut of cruise's 40-year career, marking his first film to exceed 100 million dollars in one weekend. "War of the worlds", which opened to 64 million dollars in 2005, was previously cruise's biggest opening weekend, followed by 2018's" Mission: Impossible – Fallout " with 61 million dollars

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the 170-million-dollar "Top Gun: Maverick" Picks Up decades after the original and follows Cruz Mitchell's "Maverick" Pete as he trains a new group of cocky pilots for a crucial mission. The cast includes Miles Teller, Glen Powell, Jon Hamm, Jennifer Connelly and Val Kilmer, who played the snowman in the first Top Gun

Positive word of mouth, enthusiastic reviews and premium screens helped boost ticket sales for " Top Gun: Maverick."The film, which drew 21 million dollars domestically from IMAX alone, has a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and a rare "A+" CinemaScore

As expected, almost 55% of ticket buyers were 35 or older. But this turnout is still impressive because adult audiences have been the most reluctant to return to theaters amid the pandemic. And the dazzling stunts in the "maverick" managed to attract a large percentage of younger moviegoers. The reception of the film should be beneficial in continuing to attract younger crowds

Despite countless delays (the sequel to "Top Gun" was scheduled to open in the summer of 2020 until covid-19 accelerated those plans), Cruise was adamant that "Maverick" plays on the big screen

"I'm glad we made this decision to stick with it,"Chris Aronson, paramount's head of domestic distribution, says about keeping the film in theaters. He predicts,  this movie is going to have a big run. It will attract people to the theaters who have not been around long

Disney's 20th century " Bob's Burgers movie, "The only new release brave enough to fight" Top Gun, " served up 12.4 million overs over the traditional weekend and 14.8 million Mondays through Monday. This is a good result for a modest-budget film based on an animated TV show

Says David A.Gross, who runs the film consulting company Franchise Entertainment Research: "television-based animation is generally the smallest of the theatrical animation genres".This is a good opening

"Pop burger" landed in third place behind "Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness", which dropped to No. 2 after three consecutive weeks of box office glory. The latest version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe from Disney fell by almost 50%, grossing 15.8 million dollars between Friday and Sunday and 20.5 million dollars until Monday. With Monday's estimates, "Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness" has grossed a whopping 375.8 million dollars to date
