A world with social media at our fingertips, it often seems as if marketing a movie has never been easier. This, of course, has its benefits for both production companies and audiences, as studios have achieved better marketing success with their films and their audience has more knowledge and therefore choice when it comes to the next viewing experience. Many may argue that this is largely beneficial for the film community, but this debate continues for another day. However, what this means is that when a movie comes with a cast, crew, a fantastic premise and for some unknown reason, chooses to remain mysterious, the attention of many is immediately attracted. There are many indie flicks or art experiments that go under the radar but, with a big movie like 65, it comes down quite shocking
It has been talked about for 65 years now, as the film was announced back in 2020 and Adam Driver was cast in the film shortly after the announcement. This gave plenty of time in this marketing-driven climate for a lot of details about the film to emerge. Alas, there were just whispers and surface details announced and, for many, it has been long enough now that we have to assume this is a marketing tactic. It took until December 2022 for fans to finally get a trailer, so with that in mind, and with the plots spreading, here's everything we know about 65... Until now
With the film supposed to end production in early 2021, there was plenty of time to release a trailer. Finally, on December 14, 2022, the first 65 trailers finally landed and can be viewed below
The trailer oozes a moody, tense atmosphere. The driver at home looks like a hero talking about technique and is unsure of his surroundings, and upon revealing the prehistoric dangers that await him, the score and speed begin. Culminating in a fantastic jump panic, the trailer definitely makes 65 sound like one of the most unmissable sci-fi movies of 2023. A new trailer for 65 was released on January 26 as well. Check it out below
A Super Bowl TV spot for 65 has also been released, which you can see in the player below. And keep checking back here for all the latest 65 trailers
For some reason, the release date of the film changed several times during its production and post-production process, as many sources often give conflicting information. In May 2020, it was announced that the film would be released on May 13, 2022, however, other reports suggested an April date. Recently, the date was significantly postponed to March 10, 2023. But this was not the end of it and another 65 weeks were delayed and then they were returned to the original date. If the current schedule continues, enthusiastic fans will be able to pick up 65 in theaters on March 10, 2023
After being shrouded in secrecy for a long time we finally got the official plot summary along with the trailer. It reads
After a catastrophic accident on an unknown planet, pilot Mills (Adam Driver) quickly discovers that he was already stranded on Earth 65 million years ago. Now, with only one chance to save, Mills and the only other survivor, Koa (Ariana Greenblatt), must make their way through unknown terrain filled with dangerous prehistoric creatures in an epic battle for survival
Simply put, this is a movie in which Adam Driver encounters dinosaurs. Prepare your popcorn
The ambiguous nature of this film can make it seem like there is a lot to be desired, however, confidence in the cast should calm those fears. The first and most famous name announced for the film is Adam Driver. Having starred as Mauricio Gucci in the House of Gucci and Jacques Le Gris in the last duel, the appeal of the driver became more universal, since his name alone was enough to guarantee solid viewing figures in the project. Through his talented personality work, Driver has gained a fantastic reputation in Hollywood that makes his addition to this band reassuring to say the least. He has a great track record in a huge number of genres, but this style of science fiction may be new ground for the leading man. This may indicate that the script and concept were strong enough to enroll the driver on the project, which indicates the film's potential for success
The driver will be joined on the screen by Chloe Coleman (gunpowder milkshake) and Ariana Greenblatt (love and monsters). Unsurprisingly, this is where the list of well-known actors ends, and we don't even have the names of the characters yet. Hopefully that will change as we enter 2023 and the release date approaches
In order for such a wonderful actor as Adam Driver to take part in a project, one must assume that he trusts not only the script, but also the people working on it. Science fiction can be a daunting genre to tackle, however, the names involved in the 65 indicate its potential success at the box office. As a co-production between Columbia Pictures, beckwoods, Brun creative, Sony Pictures Entertainment (SP), and Remy productions, there are many capable hands involved in the project. Produced by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man), the film was written and directed by the up-and-coming talented pair Scott Beck and Brian Woods. After a less high-profile start to their career that included creating several great but relatively under-the-radar short films, Beck and Woods are now best known for being the writers of A Quiet Place, which has been one of the most successful horror tales of the past decade. Now with a serious weight behind their names, they almost guarantee that 65 is in good hands
This is amplified when one of the factors is in the participation of legendary composer Danny Elfman in the project (along with men in black: International composer Chris Bacon), which reinforces how unmissable the 65 is. The other producers credited with the film apart from Beck Woods and Remy are Zainab Azizi, Jason Kluth, Aaron L. Gilbert, Deborah Liebling, Suraj marabuena and Douglas C. Merrifield. Salvatore Totino (Everest) is the cinematographer of the film with the costume design of Michael Kaplan (Armageddon). Despite the lack of information surrounding the film, what we know is enough to create an expectation for its release, making 65 films a must-see in 2023

You would have thought that a movie in which Adam Driver fights a group of dinosaurs could not be boring, but that's exactly what "65"is
This is a movie that would have benefited from being a lot dumber. The big-budget sci—fi flick-which reportedly cost 91 million make to make and featured in a Super Bowl commercial-should have embraced its B-movie roots. Instead, it tries to reconcile a wild survival story with a touching family drama, but both elements feel so rushed and underdeveloped that neither ends up scoring. There is nothing for these characters, and the action sequences quickly grow repetitive and exhausting. There is a jump panic, insistent notes of an arrogant result, some running and screaming, gnashing of teeth, perhaps an injury before a narrow escape. Over and over again
But the film from the writing and directing team of Scott Beck and Brian Woods, whose co-writing credits include "A Quiet Place" with John Krasinski, offers an interestingly contradictory premise. It takes place 65 million years ago, but it indicates that future civilizations existed at that time on planets throughout the universe. On one of them, the driver stars as a space pilot named Mills. He is about to embark on a two-year expedition in order to afford medical treatment for his sick daughter (Chloe Coleman from the movie "My Spy", Who Appeared in the prologue and scattered video excerpts)
On the way to his destination, the flying ship Mills enters an unexpected asteroid field, gets torn to pieces, and crashes. All the passengers were killed in cryogenic sleep-except for one, who just happens to be a girl about the same age as his daughter. Her name is Koa, and her role was played by Ariana Greenblatt. And the planet, which has a swampy terrain reminiscent of Dagoba, happens to be—wait-the Earth
"65" requires Mills and Koa to move from the wreckage to the top of a mountain so that they can grab the Escape Pod floating there and fly before the dinosaurs can step on it. Sometimes the creatures can be amazing, but other times they look too cheesy and fake, they are like the cartoon you see at Chuck E. Cheese's. And yet! It would have been almost better-or at least funnier-if the number "65" had leaned more strongly into this absurdity if it had played with the basic absurdity of mixing complex technology with the Cretaceous. They rarely use advanced Mills tools in any inspiring way in this prehistoric environment. A few attempts at humor fall flat - they consist mainly of your making fun of the grinders for being nervous-and moments of danger wind up too tidily for us to luxuriate in their anxiety
Worst of all, the driver does not get pork about him almost enough here. He is an actor with great intensity, which can be exciting and entertaining if he reinforces it in a knowing way. Imagine him shouting "more!!!"He's also blasting Luke Skywalker in" Star Wars: The Last Jedi," or punching a wall during an argument in "marriage story."But the guy who plays in the heroic" 65 " is nice and generally looks annoyed. Greenblatt, meanwhile, is doing her best with a personality we know absolutely nothing about. Koa speaks a language that is not English, so most of her exchanges with Mills consist of mimicking the basic words he says to her, including "family."There is no real bond between them, but there is no kind of prickly tension because they are stuck with each other. "The last one of us," this is not so
Beckwoods offers some clever camera work here and there , but also some wrong editing options. And they borrow a little from the" Jurassic Park" franchise: a giant footprint in the mud or a yellow dinosaur eye that wriggles dangerously through the window. But perhaps this is inevitable at this stage. Their movie only gets really hilariously nutty at the end, with a climactic mix of sneaky quicksand patch, ravenous Tyrannosaurus rex, a timely geyser eruption, and a catastrophic asteroid shower. But by that time, it's too late for us-and the planet
