Fast X (also known as fast and Furious 10)
is
an upcoming American action film directed by Louis Leterrier from a
screenplay by Justin Lin, Zach Dean and Dan Mazzo. It is the sequel to
Formula 9 (2021), serves as the tenth and penultimate main installment,
and the eleventh full-length film in the fast and Furious franchise. The
film stars an ensemble cast including Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez,
Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Jason Momoa, Nathalie Emmanuel,
Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Jason Statham, Song Kang, Alan Ritchson,
Daniela Melchior, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Brie
Larson, and Rita Moreno
With
the tenth film planned since 2014, and a two-part finale planned since
October 2020, the return of the plan for direction with the attachment
of the main actors was confirmed. The official title of the film was
revealed when principal photography began in April 2022. Lane left as
director later that month, citing creative differences, although he
retained writing and producing credits. Letterer was then hired as his
replacement a week later, and performed several uncredited rewrites on
the script. Long-time franchise composer Brian Tyler returned to score
the film. With an estimated production budget of 340 million dollars, it
is the seventh most expensive film of all time. Filming lasted until
August, taking place in London, Rome, Turin, Lisbon and Los Angeles
Fast X is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 19, 2023 by Universal Pictures. A sequel to it, intended to be the final installment of the main series, is also under development

A criminal street racer and former professional retired and settled down with his wife Letty Ortiz and son Brian Marcus. In an interview, letterer described fast X as exploring the repercussions of Dom's actions in previous installments, saying " he [Dom] fought hard to keep the faith and protect the family [but] there's a price to pay. His enemies come after him"

He definitely has some daddy issues". Momoa expressed a desire to play against the genre when filming Dante, took a "less masculine" character, performed his stunts for the film
Nathalie Emmanuel in a symbolic role: a computer hacker and a member of the DOM team. Emmanuelle said that her character sees an increased participation in fast x compared to previous films

In November 2014, Universal Pictures president Donna Langley said that there would be at least three more films in the franchise after Furious 7 (2015). in April 2017, producer Neil H. Moritz stated that the tenth entry would serve as a finale to the franchise with Chris Morgan attached as screenwriter. in October 2017, Justin Lin entered negotiations to direct the ninth and tenth installments, after directing four films in the series. in February 2020, Vin Diesel hinted that the film could be divided into two parts, which he confirmed at a press conference in April 2021, saying that "there is a lot of ground to cover and many places in many locations that we have to visit" as the rationale behind the decision of a two-part finale. before production, diesel announced that filming would take place in Italy, stating, "I was asked," Will there be a fast where you can shoot in Italy?", And I [promised] we would". while Morgan ultimately did not return as a screenwriter, it was confirmed that he would serve as an executive producer on the film, alongside Joseph M. Caracciolo Jr., David Cain, Amanda Lewis, and Mark Baumbach
By April 2022, Lin and Dan Mazo had written a new script draft. on June 5, 2022, Tyrese Gibson announced that fast X would see the franchise "go back to its roots", with reports suggesting that this marked a return to street racing elements from previous entries, despite the shared details, the film would also continue to explore the Toretto family history in a "similar" context to F9; letterer later revealed that the film focuses on increased family responsibilities, saying, "Dom was always a lone wolf. He used to live a quarter of a mile at a time [but] the stakes are real now. [He is] responsible for a human being, an innocent life [he brought] into the world". Gibson also expressed a desire for the franchise to be filmed in South Africa, saying, "Luda and I have always had this idea [that] it was time for us to head to South Africa. She needs properties in this franchise [because] she has a beautiful skyline with the ocean. It's the fast and Furious package". Ludacris later stated that his favorite filming location for the franchise was his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. during an August 2022 comic book interview, Nathalie Emmanuel said "the stakes are higher on a personal level in this [film]", suggesting a more established approach compared to previous installments. in developing Dante's character, letterer revealed that they wanted to formulate an "anti-Dom", saying, " [Dante] is Yang Yin [Dom] , The Antichrist of his Christ "and wanted to give Dante a clear motivation for the character with Dom's role in Dante's tragic origin story, stating that"there are strong bonds with [Dante and Dom] and that's what makes the villain amazing because you understand why they became this and [their motives]". letterer noted that Larson's character is also influenced by the "generational legacy of the characters", saying: everyone [in the franchise] has a different point of view about Dom and his influence on their lives. And that's the way it [fits]
Describing the film Recon Fast Five (2011), Leterrier said it was an "exploration of the price of justice", noting "[We're] Rashomon [the fifth film] to experience it through Reyes ' eyes, with Dom and Brian The Bandit. [We wanted to] direct the audience to rethink everything they've been through in the franchise [because] a good opponent has its own truth, [separate] from the heroes". letterer noted that the film touches on every previous installment, saying, "the snowball [of Dom's actions] increased its speed and became an avalanche," and said that his favorite film in the franchise is fast five. letterer later revealed that he had done several uncredited rewrites of the entire script on his initial travel to the set, He noted that he lacked sleep for the first four days he worked on the film. during an early promo for the film, Leterrier said fast X explores the possible separation of the family, noting that "people will need to take sides [and] alliances will need to be" exacerbated by [the] brewing war "between the characters, saying" there will be some huge losses". he later confirmed that the film would end on a cliff, and further hinted at the characters ' deaths, saying, "the beauty of the end of this franchise [is] the understanding that these characters [won't] live forever. Only in the West do Cowboys run until sunset. In an interview with Collider, Universal Pictures producer Kelly McCormick mentioned the impact of covid-19 and the production schedules of our "overlapping projects" (such as fast X and its sequel) caused delays in the development of a sequel to fast and Furious presents: Hobbs and Shaw (2019). filming in Turin required the Turin Piemonte Film Commission, local authorities and city council members to conduct a five-month planning schedule from September 2021 and January 2022, in collaboration with the Departments of culture to coordinate the city's main events, roads, transport, public, and security around filming requirements. This planning included drone flight management and trading restrictions necessary for the management and safety of the group
