The filmography of Robert Rodriguez includes everything from the small-budget Marichi to the classic villain and the beloved Spy Kids franchise, which in turn led to the famous leading role of Danny Trejo as machete. He has not directed a film since 2020's we can be heroes, an old sequel to Sharkboy and Lavagirl
His next film is hypnotic, a sci-fi heist thriller that follows a detective who finds himself spiraling down a rabbit hole while investigating a series of reality-bending crimes mysteriously linked to his missing daughter. With the help of a talented psychic Alice Braga, he is pursued by the ghost of a murderer (William Fichtner) who believes he holds the key to finding his daughter
Ben Affleck plays the role of a detective, along with Alice Braga as a psychologist and William Fichtner as a ghost. Other cast members include J. D. Pardo, Hala Finley, Dayo okini, Jeff Fahey, and Jackie Earle Haley
Hypnotic was released in the US on May 12, with a UK release yet to be announced
Ben Affleck's upcoming film "hypnotic" looks like an absolute failure waiting to happen
Affleck is known for making some solid films, and over the past 15+ years, he has a lot of impressive credits
He starred in "the city"," Gone Girl"," Argo " and a couple of other really impressive projects. Affleck also proved to be a talent behind the camera
However, "hypnotic" sounds like one whose clients must have shown him his script

The plot of the film is described as, " when a detective learns that his missing daughter and a series of high-profile bank robberies may be connected, he must go on a mind-blowing journey to find his daughter and stop the secret government agency behind the madness
On the surface, it looks quite interesting. However, the trailer makes it look like the movie was cooked by someone who fucks with illegal substances
Each actor for the most part starred in the bombed projects. Unless you're Leonardo DiCaprio, you're going to have a few Stinks along the way from a long and storied career
Affleck is certainly no stranger to failure. "Gigli "is considered one of the worst films ever made, and his film" reckless " was also really bad. There was a time about two decades ago when Ben Affleck was not making good films
However, he bounced back around 2009 and has never looked back. Unfortunately, it seems that the film" hypnotic " will be his worst film in a very long time

It seems that someone tried to smash the "foundation" with The "Matrix" and every public puzzle ever produced, and this is not a good thing. Not at all. The trailer for "hypnotic" is not very far from what you would expect from a new film chapter
It's really a shame because Affleck is talented and William Fichtner is a great actor. He was featured in "Black Hawk Down" and " Prison Break”
However," hypnotic " definitely sounds like the pitch Affleck is going to wish he had again. I will gladly admit if I'm wrong, but something tells me that I won't be when it falls on May 12th
He also hosts the podcast American picnic accessible at the checkout where he interviews American heroes and outlines their unique stories. Before joining Outkick, hawkstead worked at the Daily Caller for seven years covering similar topics
The hypnotic idea conceived about time director Robert Rodriguez was filming Spy Kids 2, which he told the audience at the premiere on Sunday night. His love for Austin and Saxo is what brought him back 30 years after Mars. This was a whole moment for him, and it revealed that this film is a work in progress. After watching it, the hypnotist still needs to work in order to progress because this is everywhere. Written by Rodriguez (who also provided the score) and Matt Bornstein, the pic stars Ben Affleck, Alice Braga, William Fichtner, Jeff Fahey and Dayo okini
Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Review among thieves: Chris Pine leads a group of unknown heroes in the adaptation of the famous board game
The hypnotist begins with Daniel Rourke (Affleck), a policeman at a therapy session. He breaks up and thinks about his missing daughter, but returns to reality when the therapist calls him. The shock lies in the disappearance of his child in the park-when he walked away for a second, she was gone-so he deeply regrets that he was not more aware of his surroundings. As the case continues to be opened, the assumption is that the daughter was killed, but her body was never found
When he finishes treatment, Rourke meets with his partner to anticipate a possible robbery at one of Austin's banks, led by a mysterious man Liv del Ren (Fichtner), they discovered talking to a woman on a bench. With the policemen unaware of what was said, the woman suddenly complained that it was too hot, began to undress and walk straight into traffic, causing a backlog that leads Rourke to find out that there is a connection between Ren and the disappearance of his daughter
To find out more, Rourke is looking for Diana (Alice Braga), a psychic and hypnotist who can change human reality with her words. She tells him that the man he is looking for is one of the most powerful hypnotists on the planet, who cannot be caught using only cop tactics. With this newfound information, two teams have to get to the bottom of why Ryan Rourke is in his crosshairs, which may be the key to finding his child
Take Christopher Nolan's starter, mixed with a little full recall, sprinkle Satoshi-Kun paprika and some northern-style noir beats from the Northwest, put it in a blender, and you have a hypnotist. Rodriguez always approaches the genre in creative and innovative ways, constantly coming up with broad universal concepts to explore, in addition to being one of the most talented authors in Hollywood. He is a big fan of giving the audience details in advance and letting the characters rush with them, this is the most exciting element of his narrative style. His direction has always been his most characteristic in leadership. Science fiction and magic realism are his groove, and he knows how to visually embody these ideals in a balanced way
Often, however, his writings lack the coherence necessary for powerful storytelling. There is a tendency to exaggerate a lot of incomprehensible restrained details. Twist and turns are the main element in engaging suspense movies, and collecting breadcrumbs to assemble logic is what makes this genre so much fun. But there is such a thing about having a lot of twists and turns, and in the hypnotic your head will spin a whole 360 degrees trying to keep up with each new twist that has been introduced. This continues until the credits roll. When it was over, I realized that so much time had been spent collecting and processing new details that I forgot to enjoy myself
Also, Affleck as a pioneer does not help the hypnotic reason that he walks through this. There is no emotion, no inflection in his voice or tone; everything is wooden and flat. If the actor had sounded more enthusiastic about the material that would provoke the experiment, but he did not put enough energy to enhance the strangeness of the story. Braga is the only one who brings perseverance to this, and maybe if she were a pioneer, I would have a completely different opinion
I don't want to be too harsh because the pieces of sleep from Sunday night are not a finished product. To her credit, the film is never boring and has a solid concept that is strong enough to delay, but she is in dire need of extreme tweaking to find a compromise. Then again, I don't see what can be added to this movie that won't extend it beyond the current 2 hour runtime
Robert Anthony Rodriguez (born June 20, 1968) is an American filmmaker, composer, and Visual Effects Supervisor. He shoots, edits, produces and records many of his films in Mexico and in his state of Texas. Rodriguez directed the 1992 action film The Martian, which became a commercial success after grossing 2.6 million dollars (5.5 million in 2023) for a budget of 7,000 dollars (14,937 in 2023). The film produced two sequels collectively known as the Mexico trilogy: the villain and Once Upon a time in Mexico
The short film head of the bed attracted enough attention to encourage him to seriously try a career as a director. He went to shoot the action movie The Martian (1992) in Spanish; he shot it for about 7,000 dollars with money collected by his friend Adrian Cano and from payments for his participation in medical examination studies.Rodriguez won the audience award for this film at the Sundance Film Festival in 1993.Intended for the Spanish-language low-budget home video market, the film was "cleaned up" by Columbia Pictures with post-production work costing several hundred thousand dollars before being distributed in the United States. Its promotion still advertises it as"the film was made for 7000 dollars". Rodriguez described his experiences making the film in his book Rebel Without a crew (1995)
Mainstream success
Rodriguez and Tarantino in 2007
Desperado was a sequel to El Marichi starring Antonio Banderas and introduced Salma Hayek to international audiences as her brilliant English-language role.[14] [15] Rodriguez went on to collaborate with Quentin Tarantino on the vampire movie From Dusk Till Dawn (both co-produced its sequels), and wrote, directed, and produced the television series for his cable network, El Rey.Rodriguez also worked with Kevin Williamson, in the science fiction thriller The College
In 2001, Rodriguez enjoyed his Hollywood debut with Spy Kids, which became a film franchise. A third film "mariachi" also appeared in late 2003, Once Upon a time in Mexico, which completed the Mexico trilogy (also called the mariachi trilogy). He runs a production company called hooligan Studios, formerly Los hooligans Productions
Rodriguez co-directed Sin City (2005), an adaptation of Frank Miller's comic books; Quentin Tarantino directed a scenic guest. During production in 2004, Rodriguez insisted that Miller be credited as co-director, because he considered the visual style of Miller's comic art to be as important as his style in the film. However, the Directors Guild of America will not allow this, noting that only "legitimate teams", for example, Wachowski, can share the director's credit. Rodriguez chose to resign from DGA, saying, " it was easier for me to resign quietly before the shooting because otherwise I would have to make concessions that I didn't want to make or set a precedent that might hurt the union later."By resigning from DGA, Rodriguez was forced to give up his director's seat on John Carter's film from Mars for Paramount Pictures. Rodriguez had already signed on and was announced as the director of this film, planning to start filming shortly after the completion of Sin City
Sin City was a critical hit in 2005 as well as a box office success, particularly for an overly violent comic book adaptation that had no name comparable to X-Men or Spider-Man. He has an interest in adapting all the comic books of Miller Sin City
Rodriguez released The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 2005, a superhero children's film intended for the same younger audiences as The Spy Kids series. Sharkboy and Lavagirl were based on a story conceived by Rodriguez's 7-year-old son, the contestant, who was given credit for the script. The film grossed more than 69 million dollars worldwide at the box office
Rodriguez wrote and directed the film Planet Terror as part of the release of the double bill Grindhouse (2007). Quentin Tarantino directed the other grindhouse film
He has a series of "ten-minute film school" clips in several DVD releases, which show aspiring filmmakers how to make good and profitable films using inexpensive tactics. Starting with Once Upon a time in Mexico DVD, Rodriguez began creating a series called " ten-minute cooking school "in which he revealed his recipe for" Puerco pepel " (based on cochineta pepel, an old dish from Yucatec Ocean), the same food that Johnny Depp's character, Agent Sands, ate in the film. The popularity of this series led to the inclusion of another "cooking school" in the two-disc release of the Sin City DVD where Rodriguez teaches the viewer how to make "Sin City breakfast tacos", a dish (made for his cast and crew during late-night filming and editing sessions) using his grandmother's tortilla recipe and various egg mixes for the filling. He had initially planned to release a third "cooking school" with the Planet Terror DVD release but then announced in the "film school" segment of the DVD that he would be putting it on the grindhouse DVD set instead. Cooking School, titled " Texas barbecue...From the grave!", Is a dish based on J. T. Hague's" secret barbecue recipe", Jeff Fahey's character in the film. His new film we can be heroes was released on December 25, 2020 by Netflix and was a success
Rodriguez is a strong supporter of the digital film industry, having been introduced to the practice by director George Lucas, who personally invited Rodriguez to use digital cameras at Lucas ' headquarters. He was awarded the exceptional contribution to Filmmaking Award at the 2010 Austin Film Festival
