Jumanji 4 is a huge franchise of Sony Pictures. Despite some doubts going into the release of Jumanji: Welcome to the jungle, 22 years after the release of the beloved classic, The new iteration proved to be a delightful spin on the video game board game featuring a phenomenal cast including Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan
Welcome to the jungle accumulated more than 960 million worldwide worldwide, which basically makes another sequel an absolute must. This sequel, 2019's the next level, marks another high-quality film of the franchise and also brought an impressive amount to the bank-a total gross of 800 million dollars at the global box office. When something like this happens, you definitely have to light another movie Green, right? One might think, but Sony doesn't seem to be making any moves with Jumanji 4 at the moment
While at Collider ladies night out celebrating her upcoming Netflix milkshake gunpowder release, Gillan offered a status update on the upcoming Jumanji movie
Although Jumanji 4 is not in the near future for Jilan, do not lose hope! Again, this is a hugely successful series with a lot of very busy stars. It would be logical to assume that jam-packed scales need to be cleared a little before putting Jumanji back on the line-up. In addition, considering how covid-19 has affected production schedules throughout the industry, one can also assume that it could have something with slower transitions in very popular movie sequels
I am the one who still has very high hopes we will see another Jumanji movie down the line and given where the third movie left off, the new installment will be oozing with creative potential. Just in case you need a little renovation, Jumanji: the next level ends with Spencer's mother (Marin Hinkle) with a repairman (Lamorne Morris) coming to the House. While in the basement, the repairmen discover the game console, move towards it and then we cut the ostrich running next to Nora's cafe. So while welcome to the jungle and the next level sucks Spencer (Alex Wolf) and his friends into the game, it seems as if the next movie might take a cue from the 1995 original and unleash the game's contents into the real world
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle grossed just over $962 million worldwide, and its sequel Jumanji: Next Level lost a bit of speed but grossed $800 million at the global box office. With these figures, it is only natural that Sony wants a third installment for the saga directed by Dwayne Johnson, which was born as a reboot of the beloved mid-90s movie starring Robin Williams
Thus, we already knew that Jumanji 4 is in the minds of the team of producers with whom Johnson usually works, professionals among whom Hiram Garcia, president of Seven Bucks Productions who, in statements to Collider, recently wanted to clarify where they are with the next adventure of this franchise. Garcia assured that this film is a priority and that if they delay embarking on this project, it is not because of lack of will, but because the protagonists are very busyIt will be done. It will be done, that's for sure. We have a very big vision for this third Jumanji film. We were just discussing the pitch the other day. We will soon submit it to Sony. But this movie is going to get made. He will perform after Red One, but the timing is very well chosen with all the actors planned anyway As you can imagine, Kevin [Hart] is super busy doing a million things, just like DJ. All the actors are very busy. So the timing is going to be very good, but we have a very good pitch for the film that we are about to bring to the studio, we will probably have a script written soon. Some time after Red One, Jumanji will be on deck once he is ready, and we have a very big vision for this film
Garcia says they can't do sequels to all of Johnson's films, no matter how much Hollywood wants them to, because if that was the plan, the actor would “literally never stop working,” and of course, that's not the case either
For now, the aforementioned production company is focusing on “Red One”, mainly because it is working on a tight schedule. It is a "great Christmas movie", designed to be available on Prime Video, Amazon's streaming platform: “It is a really fun Christmas idea, with a tone close to 'Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw' and a bit of the vibration of 'Guardians of the Galaxy’, with crazy mythological elements and excessive action
