In April 2018, Jason Statham said a sequel to Meg (2018) would happen if the film did well with audiences, saying "I think it's like anything in this day and age – if it makes money, there's obviously an appetite to make more money. And if it's not good, they will soon sweep it under the carpet-but this is how Hollywood works."In August 2018, Steve Alten said" My feeling has always been that this is a billion-dollar franchise if done right. But in order for it to be done correctly, you had to get the shark right, get the actors right, get the tone right. Warner Bros. has nailed it perfectly. The producers have nailed it."In October 2018, executive producer Catherine Shujun ying announced that a sequel was in the early stages of development
In March 2019, it was announced that a screenplay for the film was in the works, with screenwriters Dean Georgaris, John and Eric Hopper returning. In his September 2020 newsletter, Alten confirmed the script, titled MIG-2: the trench, to be complete , and expressed interest in " darkness tone.In October 2020, Ben Wheatley was announced to direct
In April 2021, Statham said that filming was scheduled to begin in January 2022.Filming began as planned at the end of January at Warner-owned Leavesden Studios outside London, with principal photography commencing on 4 February 2022. The rescuer-diver Jonas Taylor must risk his life to save the men and women trapped in the boat... and face the most terrible predator of all time
Review: Popcorn movie par excellence "In Troubled Waters" is the little guilty pleasure of this mid-summer. If it will fill the job and the theaters with the growing fans of survival film in a seaside environment, is it the essential of the moment? Not really. If it stages the incredible Jason Statham and his shock team in a sympathetic way, Jon Turteltaub's film ("Benjamin Gates", "Instinct", "Rasta Rocket") is far from reinventing the genre and even surfs at times on the nanar wave uninhibited and totally assumed. Do you want an outing without a headache? "In troubled Waters" is for you
Following in the tradition of films where sharks and other aquatic beasts disturb the tranquility of humans dominating the seas and oceans, "In Troubled Waters" is however far from equaling some of its mythical predecessors, among which we count the emblematic "Teeth of the sea" or the entertaining "Survival Instinct" released more recently. But how can you refuse an action movie sprinkled with science fiction with Jason Statham as the headliner? Its trailer slightly eyeing the comedy suggested that we would get our money's worth. Yes... and no. Much less comic than we hoped (we still keep in mind the counter-used role of Statham in "Spy"), our shaved-headed hero shows bravery here and sets off in pursuit of a megalodon of almost 25 meters, vicious and destructive. Laughable? Definitely! But isn't that what we hoped for? To see a single man, undertrained and ravaged by alcohol, return to duty and fight a nasty shark capable of single-handedly destroying three ocean liners at sea, is not to be denied
Adapted from Steve Alten's novel ("Meg: a novel of deep terror"), Jon Turteltaub's film has the flaws of its qualities. Creating a disturbing climax on which improbable dialogues and unthinkable initiatives were grafted, it was rather daring ... but just as failed. Totally predictable, the plot is nothing original in itself (except for the presence of a prehistoric shark of a totally disproportionate size) and drowns in twists that are not. Nevertheless, we have fun with this sometimes ridiculous, sometimes addictive show that we have a right to expect
Project aborted on various occasions "The meg" in the original version is the perfect opportunity to disconnect and go to our dark rooms to attend a large-scale entertainment. Because if the bottom quickly reaches aberrant abyssal pits where a crew of daring scientists has gone to lose their way, the form itself refuses nothing and integrates the extraordinary special effects relatively well
Anchored in the Asian maritime zones, the film will certainly meet its small success in the eastern part of our planet, especially since Chinese and Taiwanese stars have been added to the US cast, such as the very pretty and fresh Li Bingbing and Winston Chao, an unknown actor with an impressive career. And as long as we mention the names that make up the credits of "In Troubled Waters", let's note the presence of the New Zealanders Cliff Curtis and the charismatic Ruby Rose proof that the plot is not the only one to evolve in the international waters of our planet
Sometimes funny, sometimes gripping, "In Troubled Waters" is therefore a small action film without pretension, but with big technical means, which will make the hearts of lovers of the genre capsize or give seasickness to moviegoers who have come to look for a little fresh air in an area already heavily exploited. Playful, Jon Turteltaub's film will be appreciated for what it is worth without making a big impression on our minds

Jason Statham is a British actor and producer, born on July 26, 1967, in Shirebrook in England
He is best known for his role as Frank Martin in the first three films of the action saga The Transporter, but also for his collaborations with Guy Ritchie (Snatch) or Sylvester Stallone (in the Expendables film series), as well as for several films in the Fast and Furious series
Before his acting career, he was also a model and practices diving at a high level

Her mother is a dancer and her father, Barry Statham, is a salesman. Before starting his acting career, Statham was part of the Great Britain Diving Team (British Diving Squad) for twelve years and is ranked eighth at the 1990 Commonwealth Games
Jason Statham was born on July 26, 1967 in Shirebrook, Derbyshire. Son of the dancer Eileen (née Yates) and the street vendor Barry Statham. His father also worked as a house painter, coal miner and singer in the Canary Islands. Statham moved to Great Yarmouth in Norfolk where he initially chose not to follow his father's career by working on the stalls of the local market, preferring instead to practice martial arts. He grew up with footballer and actor Vinnie Jones, alongside whom he will later play. Jones introduced him to football, and Statham continued to play for the local high school (from 1978 to 1983). There he is passionate about diving. He trained daily to perfect his diving techniques and was a member of the British national swimming team for 12 years. He competed for England at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in the 10 metre, 3 metre and 1 metre competitions. He states in a 2003 interview with IGN that his time with the national team was "a great experience" that teaches you discipline, concentration and keeps you out of trouble
Statham's life in the media began when he was spotted by the Sports Promotions agency specializing in sports modeling while training at the Crystal Palace National Sports Center in London. He was also signed by Tommy Hilfiger, Griffin and Levi's for various modeling contracts during their spring/summer 1996 collections. In 1997, he became a model for the French Connection clothing brand. A spokesperson for the ready-to-wear chain said: "We chose Jason because we wanted our model to look like a normal man. His look is perfect at the moment: very masculine but not too much."However, he was always forced to follow in his father's footsteps as a street vendor to make ends meet, stating that he sold "counterfeit perfumes and jewelry on street corners". He has made small appearances in a few music videos, including Comin' On by The Shamen in 1993, Run to the Sun by Erasure in 1994, and Dream a Little Dream of Me by The Beautiful South in 1995

At the beginning of the 1990s, his muscular physique allowed him to appear in two video clips: first in 1992, in the music video for the Shamen's Comin' on Strong, in which he dances sensually in leopard briefs and then, in 1994, in the music video for the single Run to the Sun by the British band Erasure, in which he takes bodybuilder poses on the planetarium surmounting the world clock of Alexanderplatz (Berlin), the body coated with silver makeup and dressed from a simple pair of underpants. Subsequently, he earns his living as a model for the French Connection clothing chain

It was only in 1998, already aged 30, that Jason Statham got his first film role, in the film Scams, Crimes and Botany, because he knew the wife of an investor who introduced him to Guy Ritchie, who was looking for actors for his film. After this first film, the actor will return with Guy Ritchie two years later for Snatch (in 2000) and five years later for Revolver. But it was only in 2002, with his main role in The Transporter, that he became famous
He has been seen in action films such as The One, where he plays alongside Jet Li whom he will find in Rogue: The Ultimate Confrontation (War), Cellular, Chaos, Hyper Tension and Hyper Tension 2, as well as in comedies such as The Pink Panther (uncredited appearance in the credits) and Red Card. In 2005, he reprised the role of Frank Martin in The Transporter 2, in which he appeared as a simple driver for a wealthy family in Miami, Florida
He left the action movie for a while to shoot English Robbery, by Roger Donaldson, a detective film about a bank robbery based on a true story. He also shot Death Race, a revival of the film The Death Race of the year 2000 which formerly starred David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone
In 2010, he starred in Expendables: Special Unit (The Expendables) with Sylvester Stallone. He reprises his role as Lee Christmas in Expendables 2: Special Unit (The Sacrificed 2: Back in Action, The Expendables 2), a film released on August 22, 2012, and in Expendables 3 (The Sacrificed 3). Jason is also present in the movie Homefront, released in theaters during 2013 and scripted by Sylvester Stallone
In 2013, the actor made a cameo at the end of Fast & Furious 6, in which he played the brother of the main antagonist.
